shapow!
We exist on the boundaries of several different genres and ideas and this is what makes us hard to pin down, it’s part of our identity. Ultimately, I think everything we write is a pop song in some way.
Adam Anderson. HURTS. (The EDGE - March 2013)
Her frozen hand takes your breath away
As she leads your soul through the dark
You know that she came to break your heart
But oh when she moves you fall in love again
Hurts - The Crow. (via lapoesy)
How would you describe your new album to a maiden aunt at a family party?
Theo: I’d say it was like a blend of Nosferatu and Casablanca! It’s the mid-point between Roy Orbison and Alice Cooper. It’s all influenced by what’s happened to us since the first album came out - before that we’d never even left Manchester.

The intensity in Theo’s eyes suggests that if he wasn’t a popstar he would probably be a serial killer.

If Hurts were a synth, would you be an old analogue one or an ultramodern piece with all the gadgets?

- That’s a really great question! We’d be this Russian synth called the Polivoks that we used on a song called “The Road”.

Pop music such as Britney Spears screams "cheer up" in your ear, which is a very American thing to do. But we prefer to say, ‘All right, it is pretty bad. Let’s have a drink.’
